Here it is....the original IBM PC / XT style keyboard from 1981! This is the model shipped with the original IBM 5150 personal computer, and then also with the model 5160 PC/XT. Here are the details, curtesy of Dos Days: When IBM designed the Model 5150 (IBM PC), the keyboard communication was one-way (from the keyboard to the keyboard controller on the motherboard). The first keyboard was the Model F which had 83 keys including 10 function keys down the left-hand side. The Model F was a full travel mechanical keyboard. The same keyboard was carried over for the Model 5160 (IBM PC-XT). It used a 5-pin DIN connector consisting of a clock and data line, with the idle state being clock high (+5V) and data low (OV). This keyboard is different than the PC/AT model F keyboard from 1984. What you see in the photos is exactly what you will receive. While all the keys have that important "click" sound, the keyboard is untested. Space bar goes down anywhere you press on it. If you are restoring an original IBM PC XT, here's you chance to get the original keyboard!
